Studying is not only about learning and hard work, but is also the period of acquiring new acquaintances and engaging in various projects and student initiatives – and those in our Faculty are in abundance!
Students have the choice of:
- Science Clubs
- Student Initiatives Centre
- Student Government
- Cyclic events
Academic Associations at the Faculty of Political Science and Journalism are an opportunity for you to broaden your knowledge regarding many different areas of our faculties.
By participating in the seminars, conferences and workshops organised by the academic science clubs, you can both expand your knowledge of issues beyond the standard curriculum and gain additional practical skills.
Our Faculty operates 11 Scientific Groups from different subjects, such as East Asia Academic Association, Modern History Academic Association, Marketing Communications Academic Association, Security Science Academic Association, Political Scientists and Journalists Academic Association, Social and Economic Policy Academic Association, Psychology of Politics Academic Association, Local Government Academic Association, International Relations Academic Association, Gender Studies Academic Association, Television and Film Professions Academic Association
Council of Student Government at the Faculty of Political Science and Journalism
Each year you democratically choose a group of people, whose task is to represent your interests in front of the university authorities. As a foreign student, you also have a passive and active electoral right. The Council is also responsible for organising cultural and sports events, as well as supporting social activities.
Student Initiatives Centre
The Initiatives centre is a student body which, with the assistance of the other student associations, helps you to transform your ideas – even the most unrealistic ones – into real action.
Every year, students organise a variety of initiatives aimed at both high school students as well as the entire student community.
These are: Night of Live Media, Great Carolling, Night of Tutoring, First Day of Spring, Science and Art Festival and Journalist Day.
The Centre also assists in the preparation of university and international conferences, events and exhibitions.
There are recurring and new events (organised on a regular basis) at the Faculty such as:
A Christmas event organised a few days before Christmas, during which the Faculty turns into one big Christmas market. We serve cakes, muffins, traditional Christmas dishes, whilst Christmas songs resonate from the speakers.
First Day of Spring
We love spring, so every year we celebrate its beginning. On 21st March, we organise game shows and parties where students wear colourful floral patterns and proudly present handmade wreaths.
Film Night on the Patio
An initiative for cinema lovers – and more. Once a year, students meet in the open-air to watch the best Polish and foreign productions. The organisers take care of every detail. There are deck chairs, blankets, popcorn and warm snacks available for all participants.
Great Gala on WNPiD
This is a very popular event which is loved by students, during which lecturers are given statuettes in 10 different categories. Elegant attire is the dress-code. After the official formalities, there is a party with a DJ on the patio.
